Bug had fall break last week starting Wednesday afternoon, and boy did we make the most of it. First, we went Wednesday night to see the National Acrobats of China right here in da Ville. Wow, was that spectacular. If the troupe comes to your town, I highly suggest you make the time. Here’s a link:
Adding to the fun, a local Lion Dance Team performed in the lobby. Bug had a great time taking pictures and video with my phone.
The next morning we flew to Washington, D.C. to visit Aunt Kitty, Uncle Peter, and their beautiful new daughter (and Bug’s newest cousin). While there we hit the National Zoo and the Museum of Natural History. The sightseeing highlight was the butterfly pavilion at the Museum. The pavilion hosts 100s of butterflies, many of which will land on your as you search for your favorite butterfly. Here’s my little butterfly holding a butterfly:
And here’s Bug looking for butterflies:
And finally Miz Bug posing with LuLu PingPing right outside the pavilion.
On second thought, the butterfly pavilion may not have been the highlight. Riding the Metro was. Bug loved it– she loved checking the map, and even better, she loved running her own fare card as she entered and left. I wish those kinds of simple things still held magic for me!
We had a great time, but wow were we exhausted when we got home. The fun wasn’t over, though. The last day of Fall Break was Halloween, and of course, Miz Bug was a princess, namely Snow White:
